My mother has been sending me mail constantly since school began. For the past five years, I'd get maybe a letter a month, or every few weeks at the most. Suddenly, I have to owl her a reply every couple of days this year.

The content's changed too. These seem as if she's testing me, somehow. Perhaps she's simply getting paranoid.

Perhaps she is simply missing you more than usual? How's the content changed? Maybe she's suspicious that you are leaning towards a certain other son's opinions...

At any rate, I'm sure any test she may set for you you'd pass with flying colors.

It's something along those lines. She seems to be baiting me, seeing if I'll say something wrong. She also makes constant references to that "certain other son." But I believe I'll term it as "paranoid," because she knows I'll agree with her.

Yes, you're probably right. Anyone who has ever talked to you for more than ten minutes would know that you're nothing like that "certain other son".

Maybe she's come down with the same obsession over her last child as my Mum has. (Of course, your mother probably isn't trying to set you up with every eligible pureblood from here to Russia, so it's probably not that similar.)

Just humour her and send some chocolates? From her loving son? Always works on Mummy.

The epidemic continues. Mayhaps we should all conspire to lock all of our parents away until they gain some sense and realise we're not babies anymore? Then again, I need new dress robes, so perhaps that's not the best way to approach things.

I suppose they believe it their job to make certain we've grown properly before they set us free. We'll all be better off once we've proven ourselves and passed all of their tests.
