Ah, birthdays: the time when you find out who knows that you exist and who is simply playing at some sort of game. It's always good to know who your friends are. And overall, the day has been decent, despite the best efforts of our professors and other trivial matters.
I believe circumstances stand to improve much more in coming times. I'm looking forward to it. |

I said it in person last night, but congratulations to the Slytherin Quidditch team. You make the rest of us proud.

I nearly forgot that this journal existed, what with it staying stashed in a corner and schoolwork knocking me on my arse. But really, I wonder what good it could really do to write frequently.
Don't take that the wrong way; obviously, it's proven to be a good method of communication. But there's got to be something more important and immortalizing to accomplish than posing and mouthing off in a silly little enchanted diary. I want to make the right people proud, not disappear into obscurity. Arguing's fine for what it is, but it gets nothing done.

I feel like I'm living in a bloody cave, being back at school and showered with work. I've got to get out and do something.

My mother has been sending me mail constantly since school began. For the past five years, I'd get maybe a letter a month, or every few weeks at the most. Suddenly, I have to owl her a reply every couple of days this year.
The content's changed too. These seem as if she's testing me, somehow. Perhaps she's simply getting paranoid. |

I'm a bit later to these journals than some of my family members, but better late than never. At least this evens up the teams a bit. I notice that the Gryffindors are already muddying things up around here.
It's getting late and I've got things to do, though, so I'll end this now.
